Meditation for Beginners:
Experience mental clarity and inner peace in College Park
with Buddhist Nun Kelsang Dechok
Tuesdays 10/1, 10/8, 10/15
7–8:15p.m.
Happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind, not in external circumstances.
If our mind is pure and peaceful we shall be happy, regardless of our external conditions, but if it is impure and unpeaceful we shall never find happiness, no matter how much we try to change our external circumstances.
Join Buddhist nun, Kelsang Dechok, for this special pop-up three week series and learn how to cultivate the real source of happiness we have within us. Classes include guided meditation, a talk and time for discussion. Everyone is welcome.
College Park series topics:
October 1: What is real happiness and where can I find it?
October 8: What is stopping us from being happy all the time?
October 15: How do we tap into our limitless potential?
About our General Program:
This General Program (GP) class is open to everyone regardless of previous experience or background. These classes provide a basic introduction to meditation and Buddha’s teachings that are suitable for beginners. The purpose of these classes is to help people gain a personal experience of inner peace, overcome daily problems, and find real lasting happiness from within. A typical class consists of a guided meditation, a teaching based on the meditation topic, a discussion and a final meditation.
The GP class is taught at every center for Modern Kadampa Buddhism and is an ideal starting point for those interested to find out more about the practical application of Buddhism and meditation to modern life.
All GP classes are open to everyone. Anyone, even non-Buddhists, can benefit from these classes, which include practical subjects such as how to use meditation to solve our anger problem, which lies at the root of many family problems. This activity is completely peaceful and joyful and is very important as protection against future suffering.
