In the Four Nobles Truths, the Buddha taught his first students the way to end suffering and achieve lasting happiness. These four truths are the central teachings of Buddhism. Come spend the day with us and learn all about the Buddha's very first teaching, and how to apply these fundamental truths to make daily life more joyous and meaningful.

The Buddha advises us that we can abandon all suffering and its causes, and follow the path toward permanent peace and pure, everlasting happiness. And we can begin this joyful journey right now - today - by learning about four basic truths...

  • 1. The Truth of Suffering

Unfortunately, life brings suffering. It’s just a part of our ordinary existence. But what exactly is suffering? Only by gaining deep insight into what suffering, pain and unhappiness are can we hope to overcome them.

  • 2. The Truth of the Causes of Suffering

What causes suffering? We need to understand where suffering comes from if we are to bring an end to it. The root of all our suffering actually lies within our fundamental misunderstanding of the true nature of things.

  • 3. The Truth of the Cessation of Suffering

How can we bring an end to these causes of suffering? In fact, we can extinguish mistaken minds, develop real wisdom and compassion, and end all our suffering once and for all. And we can start today!

  • 4. The Truth of the Path that Ends our Suffering

But how specifically can we bring an end to our suffering and all its causes? The Buddha tells us that by following the “Three Higher Trainings,” we follow in his footsteps and find permanent joy in all we do.
