Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Mantra Retreat

Venerable Geshe-la's Birthday

Tuesday, June 4th

On June 4, Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day, we celebrate the birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

Every day we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe-la, our Root Guru and Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition, but on this auspicious day, with minds of rejoicing and gratitude, we will offer him our faith through a special name mantra retreat and Offering to the Spiritual Guide puja with tsog offerings.

Drop-in for any of three retreat sessions. We will be using the special prayer, Request to the Holy Spiritual Guide Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche from his Faithful Disciples and collecting the name mantra prayers contained within the sadhana.

We will finish the day with an Offering to the Spiritual Guide puja with tsog offerings. Please bring plentiful offerings such as flowers, drinks or food.

Everyone is welcome to take part.

About mantra practice:

There are many ways to connect with enlightened beings and tap into their beneficial qualities, such as wisdom and compassion. We can make this connection through images as well as through sacred sounds known as mantras.

A mantra is a strong request which comes from our heart. The word mantra means “mind protection” and reciting them can bring inner peace, healing, and a sense of protection. They are also a way to bring benefit to others who are suffering.

Session times:

10-11:30 a.m.
2:30 - 4 p.m.
5-7 p.m. Offering to the Spiritual Guide chanted prayers

This is a FREE event.
