Why retreat?

Retreat from all the stress and congestion of busy city-life and enjoy the simple, relaxing, and spacious peace that comes from meditation. Allow the refreshing expanse of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains to reflect back to you the pure nature of your mind when it is free from the clouds of turbulent and distracting thoughts. Waterfalls, singing streams, and contemplative walks along lakeside trails and forest will further complement your experience of a timeless weekend abiding in authentic peace and happiness.

To lead us to more and more of this peace, the focus for each session will be variations of meditating on the breath. Our breath is the very basis of our life, so although considered to be a beginner’s meditation, the effect can be life-changing. With just a little control of the breath we gain some control over our mind.

Over the weekend we will gradually improve our skills as meditators, session after session. Your mind will be much more positive and your heart will naturally feel well-disposed towards others. As a result you will not only enjoy a mental vacation but return home with less problems and your relationships will improve. This retreat will prepare you for a regular meditation practice, and you’ll soon be ready for more advanced meditations along your spiritual journey.

We recommend preparing for this retreat by attending a free meditation workshop or the Intown Meditation Retreat on February 23.

This retreat is co-taught by our Resident Teacher, American Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Mondrub along with senior teacher, Melanie Boyd.

What's coming up...

Is this retreat right for me?

This retreat is perfect for both beginners and seasoned practitioners. Everyone will have the chance to practice at whatever level you are at, whether that is discovering for the first time an authentic inner experience, or stabilizing deeper realizations of a limitless potential that arises naturally from within your own mind.

Besides guided meditations, what should I expect?

Attend as many sessions as you wish as it’s going to be a weekend of abundant happiness and joy!

Sessions include inspiring teachings, followed by guided meditations in which you begin to put the teaching into practice.

Between sessions, there will be ample time to enjoy the lovely walking trails, and outdoor sitting places where you can pause for contemplation and meditation in the stillness and beauty of this pristine natural environment. Weather permitting, on Saturday afternoon we will guide a walking meditation.
