NKT Day is an annual celebration held on April 1st at Kadampa Centres worldwide, to commemorate the founding of the New Kadampa Tradition and the International Kadampa Buddhist Union by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1991.

On this special day, we remember the extraordinary kindness of Venerable Geshe Kelsang in founding NKT–IKBU and pray for the continued flourishing of his beneficial activities throughout the world.

Prayers and dedications are made for the flourishing of Kadam Dharma throughout the world so that all living beings might quickly find permanent inner peace.

This day is also an opportunity to learn more about the NKT and the NKT International Festivals. These special international gatherings are held in the Spring, Summer and Fall of every year. They provide wonderful opportunities for people from all over the world to come together and enjoy receiving teachings, empowerments and engaging in spiritual practice in the company of the international Kadampa family.

Join us for a special presentation followed by Offering to the Spiritual Guide chanted prayers. It is customary to bring plentiful offerings to chanted prayers such as flowers or vegetarian food.
