Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga, 3224 Navajo Dr. Chattanooga, TN 37411

Everyone, whether religious or non-religious, is looking for happiness all the time and wants to be free from problems and suffering permanently. In this introductory meditation retreat, we learn to identify what gets in the way of our inner peace and how we can uproot those obstacles.

Join Kadampa Meditation Center Georgia’s Resident Teacher and Buddhist nun, Kelsang Dechok for this special event. No meditation experience is necessary.

Retreat schedule:

Session #1: 10:30-11:30a.m.

Session #2: 12:00-1:00p.m.

Where do we find inner peace?
We are looking externally for happiness, but Buddha tells us to go within instead. Peace of mind is the source of all happiness. Everyone has the capacity to grow inner peace in their mind and then share it with others. For example, by training in meditation on patience we come to experience a cessation of our anger. By training in meditation on love, we grow our love and we experience a cessation of our hatred. Until eventually our peace of mind becomes permanent.

This half day retreat is suitable for everyone. No experience necessary. Everyone is welcome!

"The real source of happiness is inner peace. If our mind is peaceful, we will be happy all the time, regardless of external conditions, but if it is disturbed or troubled in any way, we will never be happy, no matter how good our external conditions may be. External conditions can only make us happy if our mind is peaceful." - Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
